Small Shop Spotlight | Solchan Cover

What’s better than supporting a small shop? Supporting a local small shop! I love finding and connecting with business owners right here in the PNW. Solchan Cover makes multi-use covers in a variety of prints and fabrics. When I came across Solchan, I knew I had to have this monochrome teepee/bear print multi-use cover for little man. The print is so fun and I love the soft, thick, stretchy fabric! I didn’t have one of these multi-use covers with my daughter right away. I’m sure she was more than a year old when I finally picked one up and I only ever used it as a shopping cart cover. Solchan Covers are so functional, you can use them for so many things – car seat cover, nursing cover, high chair cover, shopping cart cover, newborn swaddle blanket, poncho for two while baby wearing, pumping cover and even to cover hot swings at the playground in the summertime. They are an absolute must for any new or expecting mom!

I live in Forest Grove, OR – about 20 miles west of Portland and about an hour from the beach. I started Solchan in early 2015. I had recently become a single mom to my 2 year old son and newborn daughter, and wasn’t ready to give up on my dream of being a stay at home mom. I had always dreamed of opening a small shop (because I followed so many great ones on Instagram!), so I decided to go for it!

Solchan was named after my son Solomon and daughter Chandler. All my products are hand-sewn by me! My main product is the multi-use covers, for car seats, nursing, and more. It’s great to see this type of cover gaining popularity, because it really is so convenient!

It’s been fun to find ways to make my covers stand out. I usually have 60-70 designs available at any given time, and I’ve become quite the fabric-shopping addict. I also use 4 different fabric types – from very lightweight to sweater knit – which moms love when they need something breezy for summer or thicker for cold winters in their area.
