We’ve been keeping a secret! Well, sorta. I’m not very good at keeping things a secret. So, if you don’t know already, we are expecting baby number 2 in the fall! Despite Parker’s sour face above she is very excited to be a big sister. We are very excited for our family to grow as well. I will admit that we were not trying (we weren’t not, not trying either!) and it was a little bit of a shock. Luke always said he didn’t want to have another because my last pregnancy/delivery wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns. But here we are and he’s happier than ever!
It’s been really quiet around here because the first trimester is literally sucking the life outta me. I’ve had all day morning sickness and been exhausted since the first few weeks. Add on chasing a crazy toddler and by 7 PM I’m done. I’ve already been to the doctor two or three times. The first time the baby was measuring a week behind according to my last menstrual period. I also had to give blood for the standard tests, take a glucose test, and collect my urine for 24 hours. Oh the joys! The urine test was to get a baseline for my protein levels since I had preeclampsia last time. Now they can monitor my levels and hopefully catch it early if I get it again. They found glucose in my urine at my first appointment as well so I had to do the lovely glucose test. Luckily they had a nice cold orange drink for me. My doctor was worried that I was borderline type 2 diabetic (I also had gestational diabetes my last pregnancy) but that test came back normal. Thank goodness! I went back last week for a follow up ultrasound and the baby was growing right on track. We have a due date of October 16th!
Both Parker and I have been fighting a cold for the last week. Let me tell you, having a cold with morning sickness is no picnic. Every time I sneeze, I pee a little. Every time I throw up, I pee a little. Plus throwing up with a sore throat! Ugh. Just put me outta my misery! HA. I’m really grateful for my mother in law. She’s been hanging out with Parker so I can rest some days. It’s been a lifesaver. I feel like I haven’t been the best mother lately. I know that in a few weeks I’ll feel better though. I just have to get through the first trimester!
Thanks for sticking with me through all this. I have some really great posts coming up. I’ll be back to posting 2-3 times next week.
