I received free product to test. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
It seems like all my online mom friends are side hustlin’ somehow. Either selling LuLaRoe, LipSense, or oils. My Instagram feed has been inundated with posts on the amazing lipstick that lasts all day. I waited as long as I possibly could to try it because like I need another thing to spend money on! But I finally gave in and ordered a starter set. I’ve had it for a little over a week and have worn it several times. I feel confident I can give you an honest review now. I’m now a reformed Chapstick addict and lover of LipSense! Who wants to fund my new obsession?
If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what LipSense is I’ll give you a little rundown…
LipSense is a product of SeneGence and is unlike any conventional lipstick, stain or color. It is waterproof, does not kiss-off, smear-off, rub-off or budge-off! You can create your own color palette by combining colors from over 50 shades.
I chose the color Bella. I’m not a red girl but I wanted something a little out of my comfort zone. I think it’s the perfect shade for every day wear! I followed the instructions that came along with the product.
1. Shake your lip color before each use
2. Start with clean dry lips
3. Apply in one direction while keeping lips apart
4. Apply 3 thin layers while letting each coat dry for a few seconds in between. You may experience a slight tingle.
5. Top with gloss and reapply the gloss throughout the day!
The first time I applied the color it did burn a little. My lips have been super dry from sickness and the cold weather. I also only applied one swipe of gloss. My lips felt extremely dry right away. The next day I applied it again and there was no burning. I also applied two swipes of glossy gloss and no more dry lips! The color lasted all day and I reapplied the gloss 3 or 4 times, after meals and snacks. It is really important to apply the color in 3 light coats. If you apply it too thick it will start to flake off.
The instructions also said NO MORE CHAPSTICK! Say wha?! The wax in most chapsticks prevents LipSense color from working correctly. I put away the Chapstick during the day but still apply a light coat of Vaseline at night. I’ve been fighting a cold that turned into a sinus infection so I need that extra moisture on my lips.
To get started with LipSense you need a color, a gloss and an ooops! remover. The initial investment may seem a little steep but each color is equal to 4 lipsticks and lasts 6-8 months with everyday use.
LipSense is only available through independent distributors. Kylie of Kylie’s Kissables hooked me up with this incredible color. She’s really knowledgeable and will help you find the perfect color too!
